For those with CFD's:
172 points this Friday on T40 Cash. Don't seem like much but let me educate you:
On a Micro contract : 1 pip = R2 and minimum contract is x2 = R688
On a Mini contract: 1 pip = R10 and mimimum contract is x2 = R3340
On Full contract: 1 pip = R50 and minimum contract is x1 = R8600
See what I'm getting at?
When I first started trading CFD's I went in with all or nothing attitude as usual, ignorance is bliss after all. I had 3 full contracts, forgot about dividends on CFD's and that Friday afternoon @ 17:00 my trading acc was credited with R30 000+. Only then I remembered about divvies on indexes, luckily for me I was long, if I was short, R30 000+ would have been deducted from my acc. instantly. At that stage 1 pip was equal to R100.
So when I trade cfd's now, thirst thing I look for is when the next big dividend is and set alarms to my i-phone, i-pad, and any other schedule tool or app I can get my hands on.
Hope this helps somebody to not make this mistake I've almost made.
