Price link still down, so nobody is going to get to spend their money yet!

I've updated the prices once off, but it's not something I can do in an automated way just yet, so I'm still relying on the JSE fixing their system. Looking at the drop in net worth on the leaderboard yesterday must have been a bloodbath for some of us!

I think you pulled the plug because cml is dropping ;D

Haha! Seeing as I really hold a fair amount of CML I wouldn't min that sort of control ;D

JSE is still down. If I was the IT manager there the web team would have a lot to answer to, and wouldn't be leaving the office this weekend until it was fixed  :wtf:

Oh, and if anyone knows of another page listing all the JSE prices please let me know. I wouldn't mind a backup for the JSE listings.

Dear all,

Please note that the JSE price listing is currently down, so the leaderboard isn't updating at the moment. :wall:

Hopefully it'll be back before the next deposit arrives tomorrow, but until it's back purchases will be disabled.

Finally some competition! Saturday is payday, are you buying more of the same or are you going to venture out of the tri-partite alliance  ;D

Oh and you can also use it to see how withdrawals would affect your balance by having a negative monthly deposit. So if our friend Orca wanted to draw R30k per month from a portfolio of R3m, and could guarantee 20% per annum, he'd be fine indefinitely ;D. Tax excluded obviously. Interestingly, at 19% the money will run out after 26 years...

I was looking for a compound interest calculator that would let me do two things. 1) Let me email the numbers around, and 2) show me the value of my future investment in today's money.

Well after quite some searching I couldn't find one so had to make my own. Here's some example figures I'm using to show a collegue how much money she'd have after 20 years if she gave up smoking and DSTV, and invested the savings on the JSE:

Hope you find it useful  :TU:

Interesting read from Zero Hedge received over the weekend, at last somebody feeling the way I do :

Spain has already gone bankrupt. It is not spoken of in this fashion, no one mentions it in public but that is the truth of it. The money, some $172 billion, was funneled to the banks and not to the sovereign in one more European ruse to distract everyone but the results are the same. Now it is becoming apparent that even this amount of money was not enough so more will have to be given. The money will go to the Spanish banks, the debt will be guaranteed by Spain, the contingent liability will not be counted as part of Spain's debt to GDP ratio but we will know the truth of it. Whatever direct money from Spain that goes into their banks will be called an "investment" and put on the left side of their balance sheet as an asset and the mockery will continue but I can still read a ledger; thank you very much

That warranted a new smiley:  :wtf:

It sounds absurd, what would you think the long term implications are?
