Aragon had a great idea on adding the purchase price of the shares and the % growth on the holdings pages which have been done. If anyone has some more ideas please let me know.
Obviously there's a cost-benefit to everything, so don't be too upset if it doesn't happen, but if it's a good idea I'll do my best.

Thx a million!
Bloody fantastic. Much appreciated!

Once again Patrick has surpassed himself. Well done.

Great site Patrick, well done and laid out

Long term investors will want to lock in their gains at some point. Why not make it possible to adjust the weightings of the portfolio, including cash?
-
At the moment no, but next year, who knows. I'll take some running feedback as we go along, maybe even do some votes on the site.

Group signup/administration request?
Some random just joined my group.
I shouldn't complain too much because he/she is bringing up the group average, but I'd like a way to keep my group free of strangers.

Done, group started can also remove people.

Can you show the ALSI on the investors page so that we can see if we are at least beating the ALSI ;D

I would love to if I could just figure out how. It would mean monthly purchases of R100k, but then the question is when do you purchase because timing would be everything... I noticed one user called SAFEX40 is doing something close. Buying just satrix40 shares pretty much at month opening. Don't know who he is, but I'm glad he's doing that. For me that's the target to beat.

Hey Patrick
How about showing the portfolios with total dividends received. Some investors require income from their investments, and not just growth. It would be interesting to see who the top divi receivers are.
Just a thought.....

I'll find a permanent place to link to it later.

You Kidding me!!!... Man, you gotta be bored to have done that so fast :)
Looks great. Can't believe I'm in the top ten there.

Patrick is there anyway to build functionality in to do a search on a stock to see which forum members are holding them?
Also, this may be asking for too much, but the ability to see popular stocks on the challenge from top to bottom?

Request 2 is kind of possible by going here: http://www.investorchallenge.co.za/com_share_stats.php
Copy and paste into excel and then you can sort by the total invested column.

I assume these are dated from Apr'13 not Jan?

Thanks dear.
Atlatsa kick'n butt on that list. ;D
-
Thanks Patrick ;D only seen that was built at the request of Aragon at the top of the thread :-[
How possible is the 2nd request?
-
How about a chat window above the forums to post nonsense not worthy of entire threads? Just to chat to the guys on shares moving and queries etc... on the fly.
Just a thought. :)

Hmm, ok as a trial I added one right to the top of the page. Let's see how it goes...
-
I think it's a nice addition, well done P & MrM.
-
Patrick, can you add ABSA's NewRand ETF i.e. the top 10 Rand Hedge stocks?

Done, thanks for that, never knew NRD was an ETF.

@Patrick
it seems like the prices here are not the closing prices as on the JSE?
as an example: KIO here R420.56 and on JSE closing price R422.82
Can people still buy after hours?

Yep you can buy now, but the prices will be pending until tomorrow morning at +- 9:20 when the 9am live prices update.
Incidentally the JSE website where I get my data lists R420.56 for some reason.
-
so it seems to just be a mistake? which would have not benefited the 'scheemers' ;) :D
do you have to pay for your delayed data?

The last traded price prior to the auction was R 420.56 at 16:49:42 and 43 shares were traded. At 17:00:15 (at conclusion of auction) the price was R 422.82 and 54631 shares were traded.
My assumption is that you are getting prices for end of day trading excluding the auction transactions

Nope, they're happy to give that to me gratis.

Hey Patrick
This morning, the "Show unread post since last visit" link returns no posts unread, although if you click on any forum there are unread posts (well for me anyway). Is this a Saturday thing or has a bug crept in somewhere?
-
Damn, I think it has to do with the live chat. As it auto refreshes, I think it assumes you've been here already when you just get here. I'll look into it. For now use show latest posts.
-
Would it be possible to add the current values and growth % to the previous years results/holdings? Would be nice to see how many of those "investments" pan out over a longer period.
-
It's possible, but not easy. They're completely seperate databases so I'd have to do dual reading in the portfolio page. Something I haven't done before, but it should be possible. I don't have much time at the moment, but when my next project is done I'll take a look. I'm also quite curious!
