Brilliant article Patrick and very well written.

Reminds me of Julia's story. Cars are one of the biggest culprits for most of society causing them to end up in the poorhouse.

Don't you love how folks justify and convince themselves that it's only a little bit extra, when in reality after renting that car for a few months it's brought them no further happiness than the last one.

Someone once told me if you can't pay cash for that car you want, don't buy it.

A cheaper car also costs less with insurance  :)
