Hi Patrick
I've just read this old post of yours, very informative and thought provoking, and still appropriate two/three years on.
I'd like to ask you about point number 5 though, South Africa will go bankrupt
What is your current thought on this point, especially in light of the loan we did take from the World Bank. See the link below

Well it's just over two years later and we're still spending much more than we're earning as a country, and I don't see any moves being made to try and fix the situation.

On the bright side, there seems to be far less looting around, so now it's no longer the theft of the country that's our biggest worry, simply bad economics.

Let's see what happens in the budget speech later this month. Personally I'm not holding my breath for anything that will fix the mess we're in, but I've been surprised before.
