Bernanke kept the door open for tapering as you've indicated Moonraker, but said it is data-dependent and nothing is 'cast in stone'.  Still, most analysts think the Fed will begin to taper in September - December this year, nothing else for us to do but to eco data watch, wait and see.

US ended green, Asia mixed this morning with Nikkei up 1.33%, US futures dipped into red, SA T40 -88 atm.

14:30 Initial jobless US

Local news:  AIA Group Ltd. ("AIA") and Discovery Ltd. ("Discovery") announced a strategic joint venture to introduce Discovery's successful wellness-based life insurance model to the Asia-Pacific region.

Edit:  SA T40 changed to -150. Why so negative? >:D

Detroit - Detroit's financial decline that led on Thursday to the biggest US municipal bankruptcy filing in the country's history can be traced back to the waning days of long-time Mayor Coleman Young's administration (1974-1993), when the city was already deep in debt and struggling with a budget deficit.

Gold up on weaker $, nice golden smile you have there jaDEB ;D, made me think of this: “Gold is a way of going long on fear, and it has been a pretty good way of going long on fear from time to time. But you really have to hope people become more afraid in a year or two years than they are now. And if they become more afraid you make money, if they become less afraid you lose money, but the gold itself doesn’t produce anything.”  ― Warren Buffett

Anyways, Asia all green, IGM T40 +189, US futures up, US existing home sales @ 16:00.

ASA to change its name to Barclays Africa or something as of next month. This was made known last month and the price shot up substantially and then retreated back to where it was.
I started here with nothing and still have most of it left.
