TFSA fund switches
« on: January 29, 2020, 02:51:47 pm »
Hi guys,

I am reviewing my TFSA (and its time for some switches)

The only current fund I am keeping in my portfolio is : Satrix MSCI World Equity Index Feeder Fund (B2) (SWEB2)

2 new funds I am considering :

Investec Global Franchise Feeder Fund (H)
Nedgroup Investments Global Equity Feeder Fund (A)

Reading the fact sheets of the 2 new ones (they really look promising for the long run

Any comments would be appreciated

Funds I currently have (after giving them time to perform ... but no luck)
Allan Gray Tax-Free Balanced Fund (C) (AGTBC)
Investec Cautious Managed Fund (H) (CMFH)
PSG Balanced Fund (E) (PBFE)
PSG Global Equity Feeder Fund (E) (PGEE)
Prudential Balanced Fund (B) (PRAB)
Satrix Equally Weighted Top 40 Index Fund (B1) (STWB1)

What is your rationale in wanting to make the switch?

I started the investment in March 2017 (and a lot off the listed funds are local to SA).

Saying that, with negative growth ... why keep on funding it ?

The mentioned funds I want to switch to has more than 100% growth over 5 years (that is the main reason)

The Satrix MSCI is a global fund. Generally past performance isn't the best reason to change a fund, there are also tax implications. You need to make sure the change is in line with your investment strategy and not just chasing the latest winner.

I totally agree with you (same book and page).

Every possible investment say "dont use past performance", which is true.

My motto for the TFSA (go outside of SA). Think I gave enough time holding on and not really seeing any :
