Small Cap Investment Clubs ?
« on: May 15, 2017, 01:33:12 pm »
Are there any small cap investment partnerships/clubs in the JHB/Sandton area ?

Alternatively are there any interested investors in the JHB area who would like to discuss small cap companies with a view to investing in them using fundamental and some technical analysis. Maybe meet on a weekly/monthly basis for an hour or two to discuss opportunities.

Sorry do not know of 1, others might be able to help. I use Twitter and follow some people doing graphs and indicating what they think on shares. U learn as you go along, i.e. one person got some nasty tweets after suggesting a couple years ago to buy a certain small cap.

Make contact with the JSE and get yourself registered with Simon Brown who runs what is termed the "Power Hour" these presentation tend to be around small cap shares/TFSA and other topics. Simons company is Just One Lap.
You could also look up Keith McLachlan as he is also talks about small cap businesses.
The JSE also used to have a quarterly presentation forum where small cap companies had 1/2 hour to present their businesses to the invited guests - this I found very useful to get a helicopter view of the companies and where they were heading

The PW forums was founded on the idea but has moved to be a general forum for ETFs and lately cryptocurrencies. That said, might be worth checking out the subforum: https://platinumwealth.co.za/forum/Forum-Investment-Clubs

JaDeb : Thanks I would guess the person might be Anthony Clark ? I stopped following a lot of the small cap analysts as their returns were worse than a basic unit trust and their risk was much higher.
Gcr : Thanks I have registered with the JSE but they don't seem to offer anything on small caps any more as I haven't received any emails from them.
Hamster : Thanks will check it out.
