ishares ETF Ireland - probate issues
« on: August 06, 2019, 11:42:48 am »
Hi there, I am an SA resident currently invested in 3 ishares EFTs domiciled in Ireland.  Any advice on how the probate and CGT would work on my death?  Should I have an Irish will?

My understanding is that as long as they're UCITS funds in Ireland that everything gets passed over to South Africa, so you'll pay estate duty here, and likely only need a will here. BUT I'm no expert, this is just what Google seemed to suggest. I'd suggest speaking to an adviser/lawyer who has actually dealt with this before.
