Patrick, Moneypenny, Orca and Mr Bond please add......
I barely feel qualified to comment here.  Could I say SATRIX INDI ::)

Seriously though, I would assume that the stocks you can call keepers may be ones with steady, consistent growth, and a market that would be unlikely to desert it (like SAB and BTI). If I had to list a company now, and take us to a new sector it would be Aspen. If we're all going to be drinking and smoking such a lot we'd better have something to look after ourselves with  :D

Sorry for long delay but I had to do research on stocks again as I keep forgetting.
My choices would be stocks with low PE ratios as I'm too stoopid to work out Fair Values.
CML after it has corrected.

A fairly recent edition of Finweek and someone renowned on SAFM radio both commented on Sasol as favourable to buy and hold long term.  As though it sticks out like a helluva opportunity.  I don't know if this qualifies here as well?

Don't like the one's with high PE's unless they are lower than the sector.
I started here with nothing and still have most of it left.

This one is looking really good at the moment.
