BEST ETF/S for second half of 2016
« on: May 12, 2016, 02:10:46 pm »
I made some decisions on the beginning of 2016 to go into 10-12 shares off the EE platform

It has not been great and I am learning that picking shares is something at least for myself I am probably going to steer clear of ( in SA at least )

I already have a separate TFSA in which I have DBXWD and BBET40/STXIND ( don't ask me why i split those! )

I have fully subscribed to the TFSA so for extra I am thinking of just going long term into one or a few ETFs and trying to forget about it!

Does anyone have any views on the below?

DIVTRX

NewFunds Momentum Equity ETF

STRX RESI

BBET40 ( or the new name its just changed into )

Looking for something that is well spread and covers a sector that is relatively set to perform at eats over the next few months

Wishful thinking ?    :wtf:

Knowing in advance which sector will perform in the next few months requires a crystal ball, as with picking stocks, though of course we can speculate on which sector looks tempting form a valuation and/or technical perspective.

Some of the etf's I like include lvltrx, which aims to take advantage of the low volatility anomaly (supposedly lower risk/volatility with higher returns), for international I feel (slightly) more comfortable with valuations on eurostoxx 50 (dx tracker), any of the property etf's and gold (newgold etf) - know there might be some debating on this. Divtrx also looks decent as does stxdivi.

Can't say all or any of these will do well in the coming months, I just like the valuations and fundamentals of these and will be happy to hold on to these for a while.

totally understand there is no crystal ball

Just wanted to hear from fellow investors what the best average ETF

the VOO of SA :)

I like BBET40 because of the equal weighting, the DIVTRX has looked good also

Will look into the other mentioned , so thank for the feedback!

BBET40 is nice but there are some shares in the Top40 that deserve a higher weighting. Enter NFSWIX (or MAPPSG if you want to combine it with bonds).

Don't think you'll get a better "average" ETF than a Top40.
