Banc de Binary.  60 seconds is ALL it takes to make up to 91% profit on a single trade!

"iForex -- I made 2100% profit in 1 month...."

Sadly, these particular adds make it look like your site is trawling for the gullible.  I know that's not the case but it does look a bit dodgy.

"Bank de binary -- 60 seconds to make 91% profit.  Blah blah blah."

I don't really thing the url is going to help you is it?  I noticed on another site that the admin culled several undesirable ads without the users posting their urls.

Note: I added a couple of spaces to the url to make it non-clickable.

And have a look at Noseweek from about two months ago.  At least one provider has been caught manipulating the prices to fleece its customers.  I'm an IG markets customer in the mid stage described by Moneypenny and quite frankly don't trust them much.

Moneypenny remarked, after one odd price spike just before opening, that what they were doing was "wicked" (quote from memory) "they should be ashamed".

CFDs have their uses though -- not least the ability to short and the ability to perform market neutral trades; expect to lose money (maybe quite a lot) learning to use 'em.

YMMV.

12 months is a bit short to commit to the market.  You could easily lose money.  You can get about 6% from the bank on a fixed deposit (Capitec offers this).  There are also money market products available like RMB's offering.

Quote from: sars
Interest from a South African source earned by any natural person
under 65 years of age, up to R23 800 per annum, and persons 65 and
older, up to R34 500 per annum, is exempt from taxation

So although you're not really making any money after inflation, at least half of it is exempt from tax.  Consider putting enough in an interest earning account to earn up to your exemption.

Update:  consider you might be able to split your earnings over two tax years with exemptions of 23 800 for the first year and (probably) 25 000 for the second year.

R700 000 * 6% pa for 6 months = R21 000 (tax free) (stick it in a bank account -- low risk)

R700 000 * 10% pa for 6 months = R35 000 before tax = R21 000 after tax @40% (invest in the Top 40 or similar --  higher risk).

Some of the ads displayed are pretty questionable -- dodgy forex trading sites, binary options etc.  I think you can blacklist certain ads or categories of ads through Google....  Might be worth looking at.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it actually better than that? Because you didn't get the shares to sell for free they obviously had a cost price. Let's say you bought them for R100k:

Yes, quite correct, I forgot to deduct the cost of the shares.  Substitute the phase "you are drawing down enough shares for R320k pa *capital gains*" and the analysis should be accurate...

One is going to pay income tax on the sale of those equities too in order to generate income annually off of that portfolio.
Nios,

Assume
  • you had held the shares you were drawing down for more than 3 years
  • you are drawing down R320k pa.
  • no other income

Taxable income = (320 -30) /3 =  96 k pa.

Tax payable is approx R6000 pa less deductions.

Wow, ugly spike down just now op IGM T40 8:25 Open 38353, 8:30 38162, a quick -191 points - oh, the joys of taking out stop losses, it's like a fishing trip, very relaxing, just cruising along picking up stop losses and then it turns right back up,  they should be ashamed.

Ja, a bit rude that spike thing....

Rather confusing as no provision is made for this as far as I can see looking at my ITR12.
Yes, I had the same problem...
