Dear Investors, I need your help to make a small contribution to my crowd-funded film project.
This is the film project I'm developing to share the story of Jesse February, a chess champion from Port Elizabeth. Recently this project was featured in the Weekend Post newspaper.
== PRESS STATEMENT ===
Film-makers in Nelson Mandela Bay have launched a new crowdfunding campaign. Crowdfunding allows people to contribute small amounts via the Internet to reach a goal amount for projects. They plan to raise about R25,000 for a documentary about Chess champion, Jesse February from Port Elizabeth. The money will be used to cover additional interviews and post-production costs. In 2013 some preliminary footage was filmed at the annual Uitenhage Chess Festival.
The director and producer, Ramon Thomas, started filming in 2013 after completing a Video Production course at The Media Workshop in Port Elizabeth, now known as AFDA Film School.
"Jesse is an amazing young woman and she leads by example," says Thomas. "She travels overseas every few months representing South Africa and I want to tell her story to the world."
Even former-president Jacob Zuma was an avid chess player and supporter. He opened the Commonwealth Chess Games with grandmaster's like Gary Kasparov at the Boardwalk, Summerstrand, in 2013. All these events have contributed to the development of a story rooted in Uitenhage and Port Elizabeth, also known as Nelson Mandela Bay.
The funds will cover additional filming and post-production costs. The film will be distributed via Youtube and Vimeo, free to the world. And it will be submitted to film festivals worldwide to raise awareness of the unbreakable spirit of Miss February. If you're unable to make an online contribution, feel free to contact Mr Thomas on +27814399555 (WhatsApp).
