The Investor Challenge
Who's the best investment club chairman around.

This is the challenge. Not the individual gamblers with their 1c portfolios that jump up 300% in a day!!! They should be deleted from this as they did not read the above when they entered. Surely they know that at these prices they would NEVER get filled or be able to sell. The guy on top now goes from No 1 to No 240 in one day.
I know you agree with me Patrick, but we must get rid of them. Problem is How?

As I am a Fund Manager, I would surely not buy stocks at 1c for my investors. Especially not 1 or 3 stocks at that price.

My favorite Satrix. Ave is around 40% pa over a 3 year period and 37% over 5 years. Won't be surprised if it wins.

My brokers website has a technical chart of the S&P 500 this morning that shows a downtrend lasting 4 to 6 trading sessions.

At the current exchange rate I would not hedge now. Too late I think.

Don't quite understand. If you use gearing then you are borrowing money and will pay interest on it. Keeping it for 3 years is not a good idea.
I used gearing of 1.5 to 2 with SSF's for 3 months max at a time.

If you are, make sure you use a separate account from your investment as your tax will become a nightmare like mine.

Could you reprimand vodacom for me while you're at it. It's my only stock still in the red... >:(
Sorry. Don't have it in my portfolio so cannot use my psychicological stuff on it. Try burning sage and doing a rain dance around your pc.

Patrick. You will notice that holders of a large chunk of CML in their portfolios will drop in their positions in up days like today but in an undecided market they move up.
A phenomenon that I picked up on the other contest. A good month will put me in a satisfactory position and a flatish or bad month will put me on top.
Keep an eye on this.

What happened to that guy in 1'st place doing 19%? He has just disappeared like in a flash. Was i not SaiyanZ? Now sitting near the bottom with JaDEB?
Would love to know the stock that led to his downfall.

There's a lot of ETFs out there, so you're still picking, you're just picking a basket. I've been happily holding the satrix indi for some time now, and it's beaten just about every fund manager out. Whether it will continue to is the question.
Good choice. I have always recommended STXIND to people that don't have time to watch their portfolio every day. The day I retire I will transfer all my pension into it and only check up on it after my fishing trips. It has been the least volatile and best performing STX of all and doing 30%+. UT managers would love to get the same gains.
Tip. Buy it via a broker on the JSE and not on the Satrix website. Cheaper and you can sell at a click of a button if needed.
