For my personal circumstances, I would choose Prescient Income Provider Fund.
It pays out monthly circa R14k with capital growth and is less volatile than the Nedbank one that pays out 4X a year.

Been in a bear mode since inception with no signs of a reversal. I would not be surprised if it gets suspended next year.

itradedata estimates their Sep 2015 interim results to be out 11th November....another month to ride out......

Their Trading Statement will come out next week. If it does, then she will start pricing in the interim results in November.

PGR normally comes out with a "Trading Statement" in the 3'rd week of October if needed. So wait till next week and if one does then we will see her surge upwards.
Perhaps investors were selling to switch to Sygnia. If so then that is over now.

I think it is 0,25% of the transaction and amounts under R100 are disregarded but I am not 100% sure.

You can do SSF's on the JSE with zero gearing. The fees are much less than normal stock trading.

I too had to build up my pension since 2008. The biggest mistake I made in my life was to sell and buy when I thought the market had bottomed and made circa 400% over 4 years but had I stayed in, I would have made 1 650%.

The UK blue-chip index rose 1.9% alongside rising eurozone markets, which were buoyed by a recovery in  car maker stocks. MTA ???

I am not really into Index Funds so cannot help you there. What I do know is what Patrick has researched and posted here on ETF's. The best long term performing ETF is the STXIND.
The DIVTRX has only been in existence for a year and a half and was beating the STXIND until SAB skewed it.
This will surely change as DIVTRX is equally weighted and will dump stocks that do not increase their dividends. It is a well known fact that companies that keep increasing dividends are doing well.
In my view, your homework on ETF's has been done. Simon promotes STXIND as his favourite ETF but I don't recall him mentioning DIVTRX. Perhaps I should ask him to review it.

As to Momentum Stocks. I do not know what Simon regards them to be but I have used this term for many years for stocks with good fundamentals that just keep going up with the PE ratio adjusting to appropriate levels. I only invest in these stocks and they have done me well. CML was my first since 2009 and I have now replaced her with ADI and PGR.
I have been torn to pieces on forums with this method but I obviously won in the end as they went very quiet.

I would not invest in any Mid Cap Fund as yesterday's flailing Large Caps become flailing Mid Caps.
