Shares / Re: ETF's and tax.

I have contacted Hugo van Zyl and he will explain it here personally. He is a Chartered Accountant and a Master Tax Practitioner plus he lectures at universities, seminars and even lectures SARS staff on tax matters. The mere mention of his name at a SARS office will give you a "get out of jail" card. He is also down to earth and approachable.

Seems like at this stage anything can happen. We can only dream about tomorrow. JaDeb will find a song to go with this.
Like this one.

The Rand is not a Rant now. My prediction of 13,80 looks in sight already.

Looking back at Bidvest history. After every sharp upturn, she corrected back down soon after. Now she has a lamp pole formation and could correct back down soon. Be wary of this before you climb in.

Moneyweb must have read my post and echoed the same the very next day.  :LHST:

Pound tumbles as Boris Johnson backs Brexit. The sterling is the most expensive currency in the world.

The general market is always correct although it overdoes the tops and bottoms.
Why is the ZAR strengthening on a daily basis? Is it not pricing in the budget speech? Gordhan is not a fool that will bow to the ANC's big wigs.

Only on Youtube. The comet hitting earth did not happen so they had to think of a new scare mongering topic and chose the markets.
The USD was supposed to crash and gold to go to infinity in USD terms by yesterday. Did not happen.

The financial powers that be have learned from past experience with every market crash and have placed preventive measures for a repeat.

At this stage there are no similarities to any previous market crashes. This negativity is always rife when we have a normal correction and we will always panic and call "crash" over and over into eternity every time we have a normal correction.

US red tonight sending the dollar higher. Not good for ZAR in the very short term.

I do not have enough money to invest in RA's, pension funds or REIT's as they have low returns and I have not investigated or interested in them. I also do not like the property stocks.
At a quick glance of TEX and FFB REIT's showed the following for a R1M investment.
TEX. Dividend = R5 700.00 pm.
FFB. Dividend = R3 100.00 pm.
Now, it is important to realize that these "dividends" are not subject to the 15% withholding tax but is added to your other income and taxed as income. The reason for this is that the company pays all it's income as dividends to shareholders and does not pay tax on this income. It is up to you to pay it.
This may be great if Gordhan increases dividend withholding tax to 25% next week or adopts the British sliding tax scale.
I still prefer ETF's like the one's we have discussed for the capital growth but one needs to sell some shares from time to time for the income. This might be a problem for her though.

No. Inflation will catch up to inhibit further strengthening of the ZAR.

I call USD/ZAR at R13,8 within 2-3 weeks.
