No P. It was just me drawing silly lines on a chart of the USD/ZAR. The competition with myself is over now and I will just watch it.

The ZAR did not embarrass me and today she reached my 13,7 target.

EuroNews. If ANC votes decline, it will become a referendum to oust Zuma.

Welcome back P. Perhaps we could start a new thread on "My holiday" where we can talk and post pics of our holidays.

Yes....We all have a moment of madness. I don't know much about bonds due to low yields but would you not get more if you held it in cash at the JSE?

Here is a YTD chart. The STXIND is the shaded mountain chart at +2% and the DIVTRX is the one waaay up at 25%. The DBX's are all negative.

Even at this 13,8 rate, the ZAR remains oversold. The USD is overbought as well. My prediction of 13,7 is taking longer than I expected due to the hiccups made by Zuma, Hawks and Brexit but is still on course and as long as EM's stay in favour, the ZAR could well go lower than I expected.

The popular Big Mac Index shows that the ZAR could be worth 5,85 but that is a bit far fetched and where will the ZAR start to turn back after 9 months of gains is beyond me. It has momentum to go further though.

The "experts" say 17 at year end and Chris Hart is calling 20. Have they ever been correct? I am by no means a financial person but I see sub 13,7 soon.

A knee jerk reaction due to exports exceeding imports by R12,5bil. Expected was R7,2bil.

Once again. Another sweating July. Too hot to move. Had the shutters down to keep the sun out and the double glazing helps as well. This makes the apartment pitch black but at least it keeps the heat out and I can use lights.

I pity the people in the south or the Algarve as it is typically 8C hotter than here in the north.

When the sun sets at 21.30 we can open the windows to let air in but..... The people in the opposite apartments discard their clothing and walk about in their panties and underpants. This irks my wife for some reason but what the hell. It is cooler and works.

We have a brief respite on Saturday so will stock up on beer and food once again and wait for the next heatwave on Monday.

ZAR at 14.14 now. The lowest this year and may go down to my 13,7, my bet that I had some months ago. Sorry P. Still good to be outside of SA though for longer term.

I have stated before even on this forum that Garth is a great trader if not the best in SA. He must have started his TV series as Traders Corner long before he started his own business and created his website of the same name.
The reason I said that his trades seemed hypothetical is that I received his emails long after the fact. He acted immediately to what his charts showed. I could not.

One must also take into account that every trade attracts Income Tax at nearly half of your gains. This is another reason why I stopped. So you can deduct about 40% of your gains as business profit if you are in the high tax bracket.
