Could you reprimand vodacom for me while you're at it. It's my only stock still in the red... >:(
Sorry. Don't have it in my portfolio so cannot use my psychicological stuff on it. Try burning sage and doing a rain dance around your pc.

Patrick. You will notice that holders of a large chunk of CML in their portfolios will drop in their positions in up days like today but in an undecided market they move up.
A phenomenon that I picked up on the other contest. A good month will put me in a satisfactory position and a flatish or bad month will put me on top.
Keep an eye on this.

What happened to that guy in 1'st place doing 19%? He has just disappeared like in a flash. Was i not SaiyanZ? Now sitting near the bottom with JaDEB?
Would love to know the stock that led to his downfall.

There's a lot of ETFs out there, so you're still picking, you're just picking a basket. I've been happily holding the satrix indi for some time now, and it's beaten just about every fund manager out. Whether it will continue to is the question.
Good choice. I have always recommended STXIND to people that don't have time to watch their portfolio every day. The day I retire I will transfer all my pension into it and only check up on it after my fishing trips. It has been the least volatile and best performing STX of all and doing 30%+. UT managers would love to get the same gains.
Tip. Buy it via a broker on the JSE and not on the Satrix website. Cheaper and you can sell at a click of a button if needed.

This competition is about the 'top performers', and that's most likely to be the person who makes the best bet on an individual company (or two).  In reality I wouldn't be that foolish.  I would (and do) stick to ETFs.  But seeing as this is just a game, it's all about "the punt" and I don't mind just throwing my money on a company like I would on a race horse.

I have been using the same stocks that I have in my real portfolio in the other competition since June and so far I have not been knocked off my perch as League Leader. I use the same stocks here too and am happy so far. Only 3 stocks and I am not being Foolish by punting my pension money.

MTA read this post and is shooting the lights out now. Up 3.6% today. I must reprimand my stocks more often.

I really can't see why one would want to hide ones stocks other than to keep people from copying them the following year. Are we not here to learn and get tips and stuff?
I for one would benefit as I use historical performance in my choice of stocks.

Metair. You have been my worst performer over 12 months. Doing less than 40%????
If you don't wake up now, I will sell you and add to your room mate CML that has done 111%. Even your other roomy PNC is beating you by 20%.
It worked. She woke up at long last.

What concerns me more is that porno_ster is 48th and I am only 223rd . Thus he/she has a better job than me, and they are better at investing.... :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(
You being screwed pal. Porno is on top and you on the bottom.

Markets do strange things that we cannot fathom. Look at Black Monday in 1987 I think. If I remember correctly the Dow dropped 27% in 1 day and nobody knows why.

Geeze. jaDEB is the most crazy investor on both forums. Hell bent on loosing all his grandmother's, mother's and brother's money. Plus his own.
Gold is heavy and sinks faster than a stone. Where are you on the Leaderboard? Oh. There. Right at the bottom. Last I saw you were on top. The stuff you smoking is off man.
