I am with Imara and you don't need to hand the FICA docs in in person. You post them. It is a certified copy of your ID, proof of address and banking details. By law, all banks and brokers must comply with this.
I agree with you choice in the Indi while you learn the ropes.
If you are going to use Imara, you must let them know that you will be doing your own investing/trading without advice so they will get the correct forms to you.
Once you have transferred your money and it shows up in your trading page you good to start buying. I would also suggest you email the broker assigned to you to buy for you until you get to know how to do it yourself.

That website is their international one. Without the "since". Use www.imaraspreid.co.za rather.

I have been telling you this for a long time now and have I not proved myself correct? Look at Simmers and the other smaller gold Co's.
Village!!
If you are addicted to miners, then just do AGL. Coronation just acquired 5% of AGL. :)

Not actually correct. It is only the STXIND that beats 99% of fund managers. Not the other ETF's. Fund Managers are restricted by the FSB as to the percentage they can allocate to equities. This has recently been increased thankfully.
Management fees for UT's and Managed Accounts over a 10 year period is phenomenal if you can work out what you would have had, had you not paid the fees.
Buying STXIND from the website is more expensive than buying directly on the JSE via a broker. You need a broker if you want to buy shares on the JSE albeit ABSA, SB or ImaraSPReid.
If you hold R1M Indi shares via Imara, you will pay R250.00 per year admin fees.

I agree with what Ian Cruxshank, the independent analyst said on Business News yesterday. "Gold  Miners are for Trading and most definitely not for Investing".

This is not todays outlook but medium term. Retail sector looking bad and will continue for some time. Coronation estimates are 2 to 3 years and Imara, 1 to 2 quarters before recovery.
This chart suggests a continuation of lower highs and lower lows within that channel.

Off to see my tax accountant tomorrow. She says that the "Voluntary Disclosure" might not help as they would have picked it up sooner or later.
VD only helps for certain businesses that can easily hide income from SARS. Churning your JSE stocks WILL get picked up eventually.
So now it is fines, penalties and interest. Plus everything is added to my income. :wall:

So what you are saying is that Patrick's STXIND as shown on the competition is without divi reinvested?
