If you look at the chart, you will see that the TOPI has hit an all time high. That brown line is the 200 day sma and you can see that if the gap gets too wide, she always retreats back towards it. It is not a matter of if but when.
Now this. "when" is important for CML as her year end books close at the end of this month. Should this correction happen before then, then her earnings will get hit badly.
One must also remember that investors are expecting at least 80% increase in earnings and anything below that will send her hurtling downwards.

Just to correct this post.
Diluted HEPS increased by 88% in the 1'st half and I quote.

"EPS and HEPS for the financial year ending
30 September 2013 are expected to be considerably higher than 20% when compared to those for the financial year
ended 30 September 2012."

What they mean by "considerably" higher than 20% is debatable as they ALREADY have 88% on their books. Anything lower than this for full year will be a LOSS for 2'nd half and she will tank.

Please correct me here as I'm not sure about the Divi payout that was 75% of the profit.

So the 10y chart shows the Mid beating the Indi. The 5y chart shows the Indi beating the Mid. So long term, the Indi is catching up to the Mid.
Something I don't quite get is how the index funds manage to replicate the index. Do the ETF index managers buy and sell their own shares to keep the gains/losses the same as the index?

Charts look good for 50/50 mix of the 2. I would not go for RMBMIDCAP though as it only had 8 trades today. I would go through that list checking charts and fundamentals then choose the best 10. I'm sure that way you will beat both the STXIND and RMB mid caps.

I can't pick shares so I'll just buy the index. The fact that it only had 8 trades isn't too important for an ETF. As with the other ETFs there is always a buy and a sell with a small spread. In this case the bid is 559 and the offer is 566, so a 7c spread. These bids and offers are managed by the ETF company, so the share is always liquid. You can buy as many as you like at 566, and sell as many as you like at 559, the ETF company will just keep taking or selling. If you're lucky someone will be selling some somewhere between that spread and you'll score a few cents. Happens fairly often with the indi, but that's pretty well traded.

jaDEB my email said you posted here but I don't see anything?
Thanks. I never knew that. My time with share picking is coming to an end soon. Takes up too much time and I want to pursue other interests without having to watch each share. So I would agree with 50/50 in the indexes. Only prob I see now is that the Top40 is catching up to the Indi. Will have to watch that for awhile.

What's the prob Moneypenny? It normally works. Look at MTA today. Up over 2%.
I grew up that way. My Dad used to walk around our car swearing at it and kicking the tyres.

Heard today on Business News. SOL is the most popular stock held in all UT's and Management Funds due to mainly the exchange rate.

Sorry about this but I need to reprimand my shares for doing badly.

MTA.  :frustrated: How dare you embarrass me on this forum. Your results were flat and you tanked. SIES. Are all your batteries flat as well? I hope for your sake that the new foreign acquisition negotiation announced today is successful otherwise you toast my boy.
PNC.  :frustrated: Why tank after 18% gain in HEPS? What is wrong with you? All those acquisitions and only 1% gain in full year from them. Now you will blame the ZAR I suppose.
Perhaps the 2 of you will blame all the 1c pieces raining on your heads dumped by all those 2c gainers.
CML.  :frustrated: Wake up now. You have rested long enough. Look at CFR and TGK. You keep going up and then dropping back to your support. Get your A into G and show them.

Don't read the above as it is just my way to get my stocks to revive.

Given the time of your post and your enjoyment of sundowners I am amazed that the only voice you heard was your daughter's :LHST:

Yesh. I'm glad you remembered gcr. Disregard all my posts made after 7,30pm. Hick. Burp. :TU:
Jokes aside. I am in bed with the flu so no investing in liquid assets for some days.

I think I will get some flack with this post.
I was trying out an acoustic programme some time ago for my guitar on the computer. While I was recording it my daughter, Kim was asleep on the couch as she always is.
On Playback while I was listening to it I heard this in a loud whisper kind of voice. "Kim sleeping".
I played it over and over and it was HER voice. She was sleeping. I played it back to her and she was astounded.
Strange but true.
Since then I have had more anomalies happen but will not discuss them here.

Uuum. I think mustaches are outdated. I would love to see me bald as I am thinking of doing it. Perhaps a beard with bald or not.
I would gladly pay to see me bald and/or with a beard. No mustaches for me.

So would it still be safe to just invest in just the Indi long term?Or is a mix of indexes recommended?I'll investing long term.

Also Orca, what do you mean by "You can either pick 60% or 120%"?

Im really also worried by the state of the economy long-term,causing investments to be worthless.

Is it perfectly safe invest in Rands at the moment?

The Indi has been the best performing ETF for many years beating most if not all fund managers and UT's.
A correction is overdue at this point but "when" is the question. Nobody knows, but it must happen soon. It should be a healthy 8 to 15% correction that will put the charts back to normal as they are overbought at this stage.
Now this correction must not be confused with a Bear Market. It will still be in a Bull Market with a correction of short term within the Bull Market.
Your last question about the safety of investing in Rands.
Sadly it is not. The violent and destructive strikes here are seen on foreign media. If we get downgraded one more notch due to this, we will be worse off. The ZAR will decline further and due to foreign countries policies, investments here MUST be withdrawn to protect their investments from declining.

Hi Orca, Thanks for your advice on CML. Will it drop below R60?
I stopped posting on CML as I don't want to attract peeps here to invest in it anymore due to the fact that she might just drop to that level. 6500 is a good support level but the market is due for a correction as much as 15% soon so maybe the 6500 will be breached.
