Broken through the bottom Bollinger Band for the first time ever and pushed it down. Tug of war between the bad SA economy results and the good NFP. Tomorrow will tell. My guess is that she will jump back up above the band if that drop was with thin volumes.

The time is incorrect. I bought NPN just after 11am and it shows that I bought at around 5pm. Or perhaps I'm also loosing it.

OCE is now below the 200ma which might trigger further selling. Perhaps this is a normal overshoot that happens during thin trades and she might just bounce back up.
Either way, it seems that the FoodCorp Acquisition has been priced back out and we will have to wait till end Jan for the Competition Board' decision.
Both TopStoxx analysts today said it was a strong Buy as they do Inshore fish that is always plentiful compared to offshore white fish like Hake that is seasonal and unpredictable at best.

Just seen my tax results for my disclosure of trading activities since 2009.

2009. Objection denied due to prescription.
2010. Objection denied due to it being invalid.
2011. Objection denied due to it being invalid.
2012. Objection denied due to it being invalid.

jaDEB! you will get better results for short term predictions if you use 3/6/12 month charts rather the the 5 year.
Also OCE does not respect the Price Channel never mind the Bollinger Bands. The idea is that it always bounces off the bottom band and heads for the top band and pushes this top band higher. OCE pushes the bottom band downwards to a large extent sometimes.
She only respects the 200ma.
I have only 2 stocks that respect the BB's and they are CML and OMN.

Shares / Re: Fund managers - would you use them?
« on: November 28, 2013, 06:13:59 pm »
Perhaps you should rephrase that to UT Fund Managers. Mutual Funds and Collective Investment Funds are pooled into one fund.
Many Fund Managers manage your portfolio in your account separately from others. This attracts tax with every sale event. They will not tell you this and believe you me, they keep you as a "Trader" for as long as you are with them.
UT's on the other hand are pooled funds and the trades done within the UT do not attract tax.

That said, I would rather invest in index funds that these Fund Managers are trying to beat. If they do beat the index, they charge you. So why not do it yourself knowing that you cannot under perform the very index you invest in?
The best performing index has been the Indi and not many Fund Managers aim to beat this index. The 36One is one that has been doing well by beating the Indi from time to time.

As can be seen from the comparison chart, OMN consistently doubles the INDI's performance.

Well since i'm still buying shares every month, a correction/crash just means more buying opportunities with better prices. It's the guys with big lump sums invested who aren't buying shares who feel the real pain.

That is why it is very important to psych oneself into believing that 10% of your portfolio value is not actually there.
A correction is quite possible and a crash is highly unlikely in my view but that top 10% of my portfolio is the working part or buffer.
