Off topic / Anyone doing internet TV?
« on: March 17, 2014, 06:00:52 pm »
To get TV in English in Portugal, I would have to get Internet TV so I have been researching it for some time hence my absence here.
I was surprised to see that many South Africans have dumped their DSTV for internet TV.
Netflix and Filmon seem quite popular and can be free if no adds. Cost is the uncapped DSL internet and line rent. Much cheaper as you need internet anyway.
My biggest prob is what connection method to use to watch them on a dumb TV.

Router via WIFI to HDMI port WIFI dongle on TV.
HDMI out of my laptop to TV HDMI in port via cable.
Get an Android HDMI dongle to turn my dumb TV into a smart Android TV.

The Android dongle comes with a remote but cost is around R1 600.00.
The other methods are cheap at R350.00 but you need to get an app from PlayStore to use your smartphone as a remote.

Eish. So many methods and still dunno what to do.

Yes, I agree but investing in momentum stocks has always done me well except for PNC that got hit with the ZAR and the depth of peoples pockets lately. I expected it but could not sell.
At this time, the momentum stocks have declined but will revive. The guys in resources are gambling as this sector was in a long term decline and only now has made a come back. Will this last for the 3 year tax thingy? No doubt it will not if you check the long term charts.
These resource guys will have to sell within that period and have to pay tax as income.
Resources are short term.
Industrial equities will always win over time.

I play what I have in my real portfolio regardless of what I expect them to do purely so I can compare my performance to indexes and not to winners.
As long as I beat the indexes, I'm a happy chappie. I stated that Resources (GP in ZAR) will be the flavour of the year vs Indi but I stuck to my portfolio stocks.
qriffin can gloat now and call me names but over the longer term he just cannot beat me with his REAL portfolio.

A great Android app to download is "Japanese Candle". Try it. Get it from Play Store.

Sorry, negate that as technicals show the ALSI in a downside bias for the next 2 weeks.

What about this gap on NPN that was overshot today?

Looks like this is the best level to buy. Opened lower than that gap I was aiming for.

What was the cause of the gap at that time, I wasn't following ABL then but I know there was an unsecured lending issue?

If yes, then I guess it will take a long time to fill that gap, even with days like today with a 4.9% up?

The mere fact that it is an old gap says that traders are not interested in trading it. That gap will close with normal growth and will not be a Resistance level when eventually reached. Just ignore it.

Ja Moneypenny, that's the one. Big gap. So I have to assume that the Reuters charts have a glitch!

I also noticed on Tuesday that EMI was showing a hammer on Reuters, but the next day it was.... "gone". Ja I know it sounds crazy. But if an airlines can lose a boeing, who am I to say that  a hammer can't disappear?

My chart is Reuters and it shows there. I know that sometimes Reuters shows wrong info for CML. Red candle instead of green for the day.

ABL. The first one here. Coronation obviously can see fundamentals here that made them pick ABL so maybe for long term it is good but here is a chart.
She is trading in a down channel with no reversal signal as yet and has been doing that for a long time now.
That Gap left behind is of no use as traders will not trade it up to there and haven't done so for yonks. The share price is too low for traders to be interested. Perhaps she will keep that small support she is on now.

Most banks have been hit lately so don't worry too much.
