US existing home sales @ 16:00, prev 4.98M, exp 5.01M

Numbers are down 0.6%, seemed to affect the US, but look at the nikkei go... up 1.9% today.

I'm waiting for the apple earnings tomorrow, because as you know the JSE follows apple  ;D (shock horror if that were true)

Asian markets are lining the weakening yen. The Nikkei is up about 1.7% right not. jaDED is likely to wake up smiling, gold is having another good day.

I saw that. Sadly one officer killed.

Markets are good across the board, east and europe. JSE looking good too, specifically resources. Some brightness to contrast the weather outside.

Asia's having a good morning today. The US is down, particularly the NASDAQ. Apple, google and microsoft are taking a hit. Windows 8 seems to be heading the same way as Vista, I know a lot were hoping PNC would make good profits due to the renew cycle, but I'm anticipating the uptake won't be anywhere near as large as it could have been with companies opting not to upgrade.

I'll sit today out. My gut says yesterday's drop was overdone, but I don't trust it lately!

Asian stocks advanced for the first time in three days as new-home construction in the U.S. jumped more than forecast, the International Monetary Fund raised its forecast for Japanese growth and the yen weakened.

America's looking green, asia looking green, but after gaining 1.2% yesterday, will we gain much more today?

It means someone liked something he said and clicked on applaud. The opposite would be if someone didn't like something, then they'd smite him!

Yet another well thought out article on market rigging: http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/finance/thomaspascoe/100024081/the-gold-price-crash-is-further-evidence-of-market-rigging/

As John Mauldin, one of the most impressive macro analysts out there, wrote in his newsletter this morning:

Five hundred tons of paper gold contracts were sold dumped into the market on Friday. That is a lot of gold. In short, some people sold gold like they had a gun to their heads, in such a quantity and with such ferocity that the likelihood of their being a for-profit seller is right up there with my chances of winning this week's Masters

So stupid then.  3:15pm bomb blasts in Boston, USA - curiously all 3 US futures up.

I wouldn't say stupid, the black swan is impossible to spot. I must say, I'm quite suspicious that this attack came so soon after Obama decided to cut defence spending.

How does listed property generally handle a bear market? Does the good dividend payments give it some resilience?
