Shares / Low inflation a problem?
« on: April 17, 2014, 12:07:21 pm »
Quote
Persistently low inflation poses a more immediate threat to the U.S. economy than rising prices, Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen said on Wednesday

Coming from South Africa where high inflation is always the problem, this seems hard to work out. Why wouldn't low inflation be a good thing? I would think that if inflation is low you would keep salary increases low and everything would be normal.

I've been quiet lately. I made some very bad calls recently so I'm not ready to advise.

Had you invested R2m in a hypothetical 60% pa performer or 5%pm and withdrawn R30k pm then after one year, your portfolio would grow to R3.114m.

Agreed, now can you tell me which will be next years 60% share :LHST:

I remember the days when good news was good and bad news bad, but QE seems to make a mockery of that :wtf:

I'm curious Orca, it doesn't look like you added any PNC in the competition this month. Why not?

Durable goods orders above expectations, as were new home sales. The US is heading up and taking us along for the ride. Tomorrow at 14:30 we'll have the US GDP numbers, if they're good then we might be able to bid this bear goodnight or maybe just good nap.

So since the GDP numbers weren't good, I take it QE is still coming for some time?
