Hey Moon, you have to use the tables on the first page of this thread for the dividend to take place in the game. It'll also auto post here when it's done.
Thanks Patrick, I clean forgot.

'Look out, we are heading for a crash again', warns William White, the central banker who predicted 2008 crisis

Ja boet, ons moet versigtig wees.

I am not sure what the value will be but what I suspect will happen is that those holders of the parent company will be offered shares in the new food company on a compensatory basis for the drop that will ultimately happen.

Surely we will land up with the 3 separately listed, companies viz: Bidvest Foodservices; Bidvest Industrial Holdings; Bidvest Capital Proprietary.
The book value of the 2 others will naturally be 'stripped out' of Foodservices. We can then decide which of the entities we would like to hold;
maybe only Foodservices, and sell the others. I don't understand this 'compensatory' part you refer to.

With RPL there is also the raising of GBP 100 million for the AUK acquisition coming up. Part of the multi year restructuring of RPL.
Pain now, but going forward should be good, even with Brexit.
It's hard to beat NEPI/RES/FFB and those are the ones that should form the bulk of a REIT/Property portfolio.
I also like SRE.

All to do with Brexit jitters. A positive is that HSBC announced that they will keep their HO in central London.
(RPL up on pocket change volume - not indicative).
I hope that there won't be a Brexit, it will cause havoc.

I. Disruptive Technologies explained
What have the steam engine, the internet and smartphones
got in common? The emergence of all three technologies
listed by way of example triggered euphoria and a spirit of
optimism in industry and society. The steam engine heralded
the start of the industrial age, the internet drove forward digi-
talization while smartphones enable constant access to the
virtual world. All three technologies instigated an innovative
leap and radically changed their respective living and working
environments. Clayton M. Christensen from Harvard Business
School called technologies with such penetrating power “dis-
ruptive technologies”. Since the publication of the book “The
Innovators Dilemma” in 1995 and the scientific paper “Dis-
ruptive Technologies: Catching the Wave” the defining fea-
ture of a disruptive innovation is that it breaks up existing
market structures and dictates completely new ground rules
to the market.

II. What current technologies have that potential?
Umpteen investors ask themselves this question day in, day
out. A possible answer is provided by the Alpha 8 Global Dis-
ruptive Technology TR Index. The index provider Alpha 8 Part-
ners currently identifies ten industries with the potential to
create disruptive technology and thereby trigger innovative
leaps on a broad scale:

1.Robotics & Automation
2.3D Printing
3.Cyber Security
4.Solar Energy
5.Material Science & Battery Technology
6.Cloud Computing, Supercomputing & Big Data
7.Social Networking & Advanced Mobile Computing Technology
8.Biotechnology
9.Water Technology
10.Next Generation Lighting

See attachment(s) - I wouldn't mind putting some money in a fund like that.
Try and put some local share names next to points 1-10 if at all possible.
Orca would probably stick Metair next to #5 (Battery Technology). Maybe Rolfes next to #9 etc.

As to #1 specifically, the bad news for jobs is outlined HERE

@Fawkes85 Reason for drop RPL, CCO and others.  http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-02-12/central-london-real-estate-losing-haven-status-as-bears-move-in

RPL better than CCO due to German exposure plus no luxury ultra high rental stuff.

CAPE TOWN, Feb 11 (Reuters) – South Africa has set up a state-owned pharmaceutical company that would compete with local firms in supplying medicines to public hospitals, President Jacob Zuma said in his state of the nation address on Thursday.

Health authorities in one of the world’s biggest market for antiretroviral drugs have long complained they were paying too much to secure supplies for life-prolonging HIV/AIDS drugs to state-run hospitals.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I don't think that will impact much at all. The bulk of revenue is derived outside ZA.

The primary reason for Aspen's decline is due to the weak EM currencies. Their 'ingredients' are priced in US$ but their main markets are EM, like Brazil, where they sell in local currency - hope that makes sense to youse. They also have EU and recently smallish US exposure which would ameliorate the EM and ZA exposure problem.
Must be close to the bottom now - I would tend to be a buyer now.

Market Watch: Top of class Curro

Basically what I said in my previous post.

The P/E of ADH will go up a lot due to the recent rights issue. Will have to wait for a trading update to get the forward P/E

"Once market internals deteriorate, central bank easing fails to provoke speculation, on average. The gas pedal is useless when the spark plugs are gone. Worse, central bank easing, in the context of unfavorable market internals, is typically a response to unexpected economic weakness. As a result, such “panic” easings are often followed by a further collapse."

« on: February 05, 2016, 02:36:35 pm »
Recovery of the financial sector has the DIVTRX leading the DBXUS by 5% and the STXIND by 2,5% over the past month.  :TU:

The USD/ZAR has corrected as Dawie Roodt predicted. Is 15,8 the new normal and time to buy USD?
Will the ZAR correct some more post Feb 24? Perhaps to 13,5 again?

Rand only improved due to weak dollar and uptick in commodity prices. Fundamentals for resources haven't changed at all, so Rand "strength" may not last.
Watch out for SONA and later the budget - both could move the Rand either way. I am betting weaker Rand, especially after SONA.
