Thank you Aragorn & jaDEB.

So we prefer Janet because she moves slower, got it.

Do all of you believe the Syria crisis is over?  Personally I don't, but playing it long while it lasts. I think it will crop up again. Why you ask?  Because Angela Merkel was way to silent throughout this whole fiasco, watch her after German election this week 22 Sep. Just a gut feeling, hopefully I'm wrong.

And jaDEB I must confess, I thought by now you would have been back in the bottom part with that pick, you taught me a lesson or two in humility. :-[  (This emotion is supposed to show embarrassment, I'm not sure what this face says, disapproval perhaps but I mean it as shame.)

And Patrick, you and Aspen making me very nervous with your recent moves.

A $90 Billion trade deficit is no small matter. ???  If India has 3rd largest current account deficit worldwide, who is 2nd and 1st?

Never knew 52% of gold worldwide is utilised for making jewellery, only 18% kept in central banks and 18% ETFs', and 12% for industrial.

I know gold jewellery has huge cultural significance in India, don't understand why though. Shouldn't third world countries at least try to promote infrastructure and and industry rather than adornments?  Not judging (much), just wondering why.

So who is the bleeding heart today?

Could not be Syria :TU:
F&G is @ 47 Neutral :TU:
US jobless claims less than expected :TU:
SA record closing yesterday :TU:
SA strikes, but that is normal this time of the year  :TU:

Oh, I know, it is that 't'-word, t for twits, tools, twats, and trolls.

Most probably this afternoon US data 14:30 might push us up back again.

Syria backed down and will reveal locations of their chemical weapons stockpiles and will also stop making new ones in an effort to avoid military strikes against them. Its peace on earth and love to all mankind for now.  Markets steaming ahead until the next hurdle, which ironically enough would be upbeat worldwide economic data and recovery.  Funny how the word 'tapering' wasn't mentioned recently. Want to bet it will pop up before the end of this week? It almost seems humans flourish on drama and a constant need to be in flux.

Healthcare, insurance and household goods had a good day yesterday, KGMedia, Steinhoff, Mondi, Aspen, Afrimat & Naspers (R902.50) all made new highs

Oil retreating as expected, Asia mixed, IGMT40 +115, VIX -7.0%, Moons F&G at 43 Fear, same as a month ago - just a reminder last week we were at 17 Extreme Fear.

Thank you for all the info Aragorn, appreciated.  I don't think I will be needing SBK OST info atm, I already have live accounts with PSG & IG Markets. I agree that we are more likely to see more longs than shorts (except for miners) for now, pity as I have find that shorts run so much quicker than longs. I will add GFI, MTN and TON to my watchlist and check them out.

Thank you,.

And you have to buy in pockets of 100 shares for 1 contract? So basically what you've stated above x 100 = 1 contract.

Got it.

I've worked very hard all day, still busy but I have already lined up a few companies over the next three months (longs & shorts), this is going to be interesting. :D

Phew, thank you Aragon.

First mistake you saved me from, SSF’s and not CFD’s expires, always had the notion that share CFD’s expire and not index CFD’s.  But it is good news indeed as I was waiting for the 19th to start; now I can start sooner. :)  It also explains why time frames are longer and it seems, for now at least, that price fluctuations are not as lethal as on index CFD’s.

So dividends, same principle as indices although trading stops at 16:50 were as I usually trade until 22:00 (daylight savings time dependant) and can start 2am, whereas 9:00am seems opening time, or can I trade 8:50 in auction?  Don’t worry, I’ll find out soon enough.

With regards to tricks, I've learned on Alsi & T40 CFD’s to disable stop losses just before 8:30 (sometimes also 8:00) and also just before/after major economic news. It’s amazing and I guess also borderline criminal how enormous fluctuations are then, both up and down in a split second, to take out SL’s both ways I assume and then continuing right back in the direction it was going before those times.

Also, I never initiate a new contract out of normal business hours because spreads seem to magically inflate after hours, thus best time to start is just after 8:30am.  I suppose it is not really tricks, I just try to hunt the hunter.

Thank you for sharing current positions, I’ll try to follow what is happening here.

Now, I'm looking forward to look into a few potential shares, I will post when I enter so that everyone can share my pain and learn from my mistakes.
