as a beginner one should take some risk.

Some yes.

Not like me, started CFD's and went directly for Alsi, had no clue what was going on but did it anyway.

Four parts stupid, one part brave.

Monneypenny and Atlatsa Resources Corporation (ATL)

No, no jaDEB, that one is not mentioned in polite company. :D

I get what Neil is saying (welcome Neil  :) ) and I agree on his system for 90% of a portfolio.

But damn, I do also need those 10% wildcards to keep things interesting, ATL being the latest one.  Previous ones that were good to me, making no sense at the time of purchasing were RLO (2004), MRF (2007 & 2011) Brait (2009), ARQ & UUU (2010), MUR, IPSA & AET think it was 2006 or there a bouts.

But as I've said, wildcards - not putting somebody’s pension fund in there.

Atlatsa Resources Corporation (Anooraq Resources in former life) now also trading on Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) since 5 Feb 2014, symbol ATL.

Already on NYSE MKT: ATL & JSE ATL.

Up +346% 2013, 3rd best performer on JSE 2013.

And as a side note, released on 12 Feb:   ATL achieved ranking in 2014 TSX Venture 50®:  Every year, the TSX Venture 50 ranks the strongest companies on the exchange by share price, trading volume, market capitalisation and analyst coverage. Each of these companies has seen impressive growth over the past year, offered strong return to their shareholders and is actively traded in the market.

Still some way to go for this one I think, for the sake of transparency >:D, yes I do own this since Jan 2013 @168

ACL narrowed full-year loss (7 Feb 2014, Reuters) on weaker rand & firmer steel price which offset decline in sales.

Diluted headline loss/share (31 Dec 2014) 56c, prev year loss/share 129c.

UBS raised target price to R50 from 46.30, rating neutral.

Company expected improved Q1 performance (on international price pickup & higher sales volume after seasonal slowdown Q4)

Despite all this, I changed this one from my short watch list to short now until at least end Apr.  Q1 Earnings release 9 May.

Anybody aware of a reason (except above ones) not to do this?

Input guys?
