Hey Patrick
How about showing the portfolios with total dividends received. Some investors require income from their investments, and not just growth. It would be interesting to see who the top divi receivers are.

You'd need to consider your time period for the investment (i.e. by when would you need to withdraw from your investment), as well as your risk profile and your requirement (i.e. do you need regular income from the investment or are you looking for growth).
You'll find a common thread through all the post here that states "If you can't beat the Index, buy the Index". Check out the Satrix Indi post as well as the following posts for some good insights -
- Share growth comparison and timeframes
- RMB MidCap ETF
- STX40 vs RMBT40 (read this before you buy Satrix 40)
- Living off Dividends.
- Reaching financial freedom
and don't forget to topic - Tax

Aragorn, if I read you correctly, you are saying that ETF's are exempt from the 3 year thingy?No, not at all.
Thought that you planned to move your CML etc to ETF's and live off the income and small withdrawals.

Now if I add this money to top up my current stocks, how will this affect the 3 year thingy?
I presume the new shares will start on this new date. Am I correct?
As your plan in due course is to liquidate your shares and place them into ETF's, would it not be prudent to place these funds directly into ETFs. That way you can avoid the 3 year thingy (unless of course the liquidation plans are still 3 years away.)
