Closed the rest of my MMI today and half my CLS. Took a small shot on DSY - long @ 87.50
GFI still signalling a long, but after the last SENS I don't forsee any upside for the next few days.
Missed the boat on MTN, but there should still be some more upside.
RLO could be worth consideration for shorting, and watching SHF at the same time.
CFR? Today's SENS and subsequent drop could be a long opportunity - thoughts?
FSR - new 12 month high - may be a short opportunity before the divi?

Next year all ETFs will be on the leaderboard. I'll automate it. If I can find price history going back to April I'll add the midcap index, but so far I've only found 3 months worth of daily closes.

1 years history for you

Seeing as you are going for the RMB Midcap next, how about adding it to the comp leaderboard like you've done STX Indi and 40?

While we're in this discussion, let me post what my "still to be ratified" strategy advises after today. These are for longs only as I am still not satisfied with my shorts strategy yet (working on it though [MUR and TRU seems like good for a short]).
Watch list - None
Go Long - GFI, MTN, TON
Not to say that I will act on any of these, as other issues need to be considered and factored in.
NOTE: This is not advice - only my opinion based on my plan/stategy.

Thank you,.

And you have to buy in pockets of 100 shares for 1 contract? So basically what you've stated above x 100 = 1 contract.

Got it.

I've worked very hard all day, still busy but I have already lined up a few companies over the next three months (longs & shorts), this is going to be interesting. :D

On SBK OST you don't have to buy in pockets of 100. 1 contract = 1 share, and all you pay is the margin against the trade price (plus/minus whatever interest charged daily and the daily margin variation.)
I'd attach a brochure, but Patrick only allows a 512K upload, and it's 820K in total.
Can you PM me and I'll mail it directly?

Aragon, what's your margins?

I trade on STD OST Platform. Regret that you can't short a number of the shares listed, and the availability is not as big as we would like them to be but we manage within what we have. (Something about the ability to borrow and lend shares on the market - stuff above my pay grade)

I trade in the CFD space and call myself a rank amateur, and I trade on the daily closing prices.
To answer the questions -
1.) Time Period - That is purely dependant upon the exit strategy applied to each trade. As I generally trade against daily closing prices, my trades usually run for a number of days. Either the stop loss is triggered or the initial target is reached, and I then exit. Where a trade is moving sideways between SL and Target, I will monitor and decide to either let it run or close it out based on factors present at the time. I'm still Long on MMI for 47 days now-closed half this morning to lock in profits and allowing the balance to run for a few more days.
2.) Expiry 'thingy' - Not applicable to CFD's. Don't actually know anything about it aside from that it happens evey third Thursday each quarter.
3.) Dividends play a role on CFD's. If you are short over the divi LTD, you pay in the dividend, if long you receive the dividend.
4.) Tricks - Well not sure about "tricks", but I believe in a strong trading plan, good risk/money management and specific entry and exit criteria. I'm still developing mine, and I guess most traders, even those who have been around for many years, are also still refining their strategies.

For info - Current Open Trades -
Long MMI @ 21.80
Long CLS @ 55.15
I also had orders in this morning for Longs on MTN and TBS, but the market gapped above my price on open. My strategy also advised a Long for JDG today, but I just don't like that share....
TON is on my watchlist for a Long

Please be so kind as to share your 'tricks', as they will most likely apply to CFD's as well.

Hope the above has been a bit of assistance.

Calling all CFD pro's and amateurs:

I need you to start posting on how and when you enter CFD's and help me to understand these:

Question One:
How long do you usually keep your CFD?  minutes, hours, weeks or months?

Question Two
Please explain the 'expiry' thingy, I know its 4 times a year, every whatever Thursday or something like that, the 19th Sep? What is the purpose of expiring, what if you wanted to keep going (roll over), is it just so that your redo your contract and repay brokers + a new bid/offer price? The way I see it SSF and CFD are basically the same thing, except for the expiry factor? Yes?

Question Three
Do dividends have an effect?

Question Four:
Any tricks you have picked up whilst trading CFD's? (I've picked up a lot of tricks on Alsi and T40 CFD's which are very costly if you're unaware, if somebody is interested, I can point it out)

Now, please respond and don't make me go and ask the 'other forum'.  ::)

Miss Moneypenny, do you wish for us to answer the questions above, or just to post our trades, or both?

Accordingly, the salient dates for the name change, as announced on SENS on Wednesday, 3 July 2013,
still apply. The Company will begin trading under the new name "RCL Foods Limited" under the new JSE
share code "RCL", abbreviated name "RCL" and new ISIN ZAE000179438 with effect from commencement
of trade on Monday, 2 September 2013.

Now that I have done it all for her, do you think that the other R3k is due?

Not a @#$%. She clearly stated that she is unfamiliar with your needs and that you had to do the slog yourself, so how could she now expect additional funds?

Can you guys give me feedback again. It seems faster now. I complained to the server team who keep trying to tell me there's no problem. Though maybe they are making changes in the background.
Browsing the site this afternoon seems a lot better than this morning and yesterday. I will monitor on the next visit and post an update.

Nice Friday Chicken mind you.....
