what was the issue with gfi today, much more than the daily average and one massive bounce in the afternoon closing auction

SGL has been the gold company to attract all the money so far, I think the rest will now play catchup, So HAR ,GFI and the rest should recover as well

Miners suck big time. Leave them to jaDEB to loose his money.

I also think that miners are not real investments and only short term opportunities, but I have made my bit on the jse  and can,t identify a suitable stock to rather diversify in, even cml or bti seem a bit expensive.

If I wanted to invest in one of then satrix type things I would not be here.

at current pricing HAR and GFI still have some upside potential, they are major oversold. It gold continues its recovery, they should give some nice capital gains short to medium term.

SGL I think is a bit overbought, depending on tomorrows results, may be a time for a sell , bank profits and wait for it to drop back to a decent buy level.

But then this is my personal opinion and I win some and lose some. :)

I won some on sgl and lost some on gfi

Anyone want to venture an explanation for the nice highs and now back down 50%

http://www.moneyweb.co.za/moneyweb-investment-insights/ellies-directors-lock-in-huge-shareprice-gains.

Were they overbought due to momentum buying and hype about the new tv and solor story and have now returned to normal levels or what.

A nice 100% climb and then 50 % decline, would suggest that is was a share used to make money at the expense of others.

You have multiple choices, the one is buy into a good unit trust, the next is investing in shares that the unit trusts buy, If you have time money and a sence of the economy and what is going to happen with a bunch of manipulators doing their thing with the shares you want to buy , you start trading.

Critieria 1 : Money
2 , research, but don,t expect the market to think the same
3, More Money
4, So unless you up for fun and games and balls of steel and a lot of research which mostly mean jack, just get a unit trust

I dont think many of us playing this game have not taken a major hit on a investment issue.

But as with orca, shrewd investment has recovered his losses. But that does not come from stock picking, it takes research and knowledge, and a slight bit of a % of luck
