don't expect any upward movement in BTC for some time, as the mt gox executors look to still sell around $1bn worth of crypto ... only after that has been cleared do I see BTC bouncing back .. so maybe later this year or early next year

Thanks for pointing that out. This article in Marie Claire claims she's the wealthiest woman in South Africa without any citations.

So how would you do a more accurate assessment of her net worth? I welcome your suggestions.

try contacting the journalist of that article to provide a source for their claim

has anyone tried this type of investment and can provide some insight?

I see moneyweb did a piece on it : http://www.moneyweb.co.za/moneyweb-radio/save-tax-venture-capital-investing/

I am curious about the level of risk and expected return on these types of investments, especially if you can claim a tax deduction  ;D

I'm confused, as at the end he says "This final, taxable amount, is what is added to your taxable income and taxed at your current rate.".
I thought CGT is 15%, so why is he mentioning current tax rate??

more reason to take your money offshore ... really stupid idea ... guess this is just another way for them to increase the tax rate, without actually increasing the tax rate

thanks for the response Hamster, still not sure why you would keep the FNB Share Saver. Does it offer something different to EE??
Just curious, as to your reasoning, so that i know which is the better option for me.

I am also considering moving, but just concerned about how stable/reliable they are. Don't want to move to them and lose everything if they close up shop in a few months.

They seem to be changing their whole business model(moving into voice biometrics), and the share prices seems to be rising, but I am not sure if I should get out now or hold on for the ride!!
Anyone got a bit of insight/advice on whether this is a hold/buy/sell??

with pretty good data coming from the USA in the past few months, I am sure china will start the machinery again and be in need of resources in the not too distant future.
If only I knew where it might level off, then I can get some more :)

Its dividend yield is around 10% right now and I anticipate the price of the share will go up, but that is long term.
We have to wait for the chinese to need more iron ore for the price to go up ... the fact that bhp and some others have decided to put more ore into the market has not helped, as there is now an oversupply, but I am sure there will be a leveling out soon enough

Orca, definitely not confusing them with PNC.
It was in the email sent out by the CEO.
As I said, very surprised they did not disclose this on sens, but I am not sure about how this is meant to work.
