Shares / Own Shares VS Game shares
« on: March 13, 2014, 10:30:00 pm »
Who has what and why.

I  now have KIO, cause they seemed a buy this week, GFI for the road to recovery, also trying to recover a loss buy, ABL, cause I think it should have an decent upside potential and SHP cause I think were also oversold as kio was.

In the game I have 2 entries, one in tgg78703 and the other AAE, the one is in recovery mode and the other one giving and arrogant lucky from last year griffen gas

 :)

all in jest griffin

The Investor Challenge / Rules for next year
« on: December 17, 2013, 08:19:07 pm »
Don,t know if you have posted them yet.

But i have a feeling that next year will be a different kettle of fish, no cml, no satrix.

Most top shares are at a high, The only ones major down are gold (and that cost me) but will they recover

The Investor Challenge / What made you buy what you bought

It has been an issue with me, maybe, cause I am not doing to well in the game, but what made you buy fgl for those that did

The Investor Challenge / Best portfolio
« on: October 31, 2013, 06:21:26 pm »
Who do you reckon has the best portfolio in the game.

By this i do not mean as who has had the most growth. The answer won,t be in the ton 10 or 20 in the game. But who has a nice group of shares that are doing well and also reasonably risk averse

Supervan or Bounce does not look to bad

Shares / Share growth comparison and timeframes
« on: October 23, 2013, 06:36:54 pm »
I don,t know quite how to explain my point in this , but let me try.

It might also be more appropriate to an trader and not investor.

There are always article comparing the growth in various shares, but they all have certain times frames involved.
i.e. Year to date
      1 Year
      2 Years

But they never ever show the true picture.

To sort of explain my point (the prices ar,nt exact and there might be some calculation errors

Take Telkom, if you bought in January at a about R18.50 you would have had about 50% growth year to date
but if you bought in may at R12 you would have had 134% at the moment.

SGL if you bought in February when they listed you would have paid R16.30 a share , trading at R14.18 today, a 13% loss
If you bought them in May R6.75, would would have made 110% Profit

This is one of the reasons that trading remains a viable despite the tax implication.

I think the point I trying to get across is that there are different ways of investing.

My way has always been to look for a company that is oversold , because of short term bad news and market sentiment but is a good company.

That way you maximise profits.

Otherwise you might as well just spread your risk and go Satrix and be content with 16% growth.

There are however many good shares that just grow, like cml 138% for the 12 months without many dips, but there are very few and far between.

But on 90 day growth they are 20%, SGL 60%, TKG 54%.

Just a different perspective I suppose

The Investor Challenge / investor challenge

these competitions have always had a issue in the past where someone buys shares that are not very liquid, e,g . If I had bought selco with all my money I would be 131% up today.

but that not be a true reflection as they hardly trade and there would be no hope of me selling or realising my profit.

Should you not have a cap on purchases related to the shares average volume
