The culprit is much higher provisions for bad debt on their largely unsecured lending book.

The satrix divi is currently yielding 3.5%. A site that says they do 100% in 8 years must surely be trying to sell you something. Here's a list of the top yielding companies on the JSE. Unfortunately most of them are property companies which will be taxed. Others are companies that have had low growth prospects, apart from CML of course!

Very few fund managers do 25 to 30%, and if they do it's a real bull market. The satrix indi has been returning 30%+ for some time and is well diversified, why not just buy that?

The fair value calculation you're mentioning was based on the last set of results. As CML is a purely profit based share a bad set of results could change that drastically for the worse. On the plus side, a good set of results could also change it drastically for the better.
