Shares / Net Worth
« on: June 27, 2017, 02:55:29 pm »
There's a lot of info on this forum, with each person or couple in a unique financial space. I'd start a survey  if I knew how, but I would like to suggest that we - anonymously - survey Net Worth vs. Age & Occupation.

For someone like myself, 40 years old and have been unemployed for 2 years now, my Net worth is nearing a figure not worth mentioning.

But if my situation was anything normal, where should I be in terms of Net worth in relation to my age group ?

Or maybe a few replies to this post would be good and give us seeking similar advice an idea

Shares / Questions on Wealth Management
« on: June 27, 2017, 02:50:54 pm »
Can the guys on the forum comments, advise on this question.

Do you manage (ie. invest in shares, mutual funds, property, cash) on your own or have appointed either a Financial Advisor, or a Wealth Manager ?

If the latter two, which are the best Wealth Manager's for individuals (or families) depending on the size of the portfolio.

A WM for example, told me that he considers anyone with a Net Worth of +R5M a high net worth - do you agree ?

There's a couple of WM's around e.g. Brenthurst, Stonehage, Rosebank Wealth Group, Maitland, Galileo Capital, Citadel.

Which are best depending on the size of the portfolio ?

R0 - R1M,
R1M - R3M
R3M - R5M
R5M - R7M
R7M - R10M
R+10M

Any experience as to what makes a WM stand out, ie. is it the service, or moving funds around and is it worth the fees that they charge,

At what point would one typically transition from a financial advisor to a Wealth Management company ? Some WM's are preapared to talk as an intro, but some e.g. Galileo Capital will charge R1500 just for an initial chat - and that's without providing any advice ! Crazy.

Thanks guys
Santosh

Off topic / Money Equation for LIfe
« on: December 30, 2015, 08:47:44 am »
Hi guys,
Been some time since  I've been to the site.

My question : Is there, or has there been a mathematical equation derived to answer "how much do I need to stop working right now ?", with known inputs viz.

1. Available Capital (C)
2. Annual Draw-down (D)
3. Interest Growth rate of invested capital (i)
4. Time (T - this would typically be e.g (75 - Age today)

Thus : R (Required Capital) = *F(C,D,i,T)

Such an equation could be used or rearranged to solve for required Interest Rate (i) if a certain Capital (R) is available to invest, thus i = *F(R,C,D,T)

If such an equation is available, can one of you fine gentlemen share this with me or point me to the text where such statistical analysis is undertaken and hopefully something has been published. As an aside, I've tried to do some high level modelling for the above two equations and it "seems" that this can be described using a 4th order Polynomial equation.
Would this be on the right track ?

Shares / Investec USD Wealth Accelerator
« on: October 17, 2015, 09:42:34 am »
Hi All,
I'm new here - like registered 30sec's ago.
I've only now come across this forum. I am interested in Investecs product and see there's a thread about it.

Does anyone know what the USD Live Invesment figure means on their brochure that shows the predicated return ?

I don't have the minimum 100K. Is there a way to invest less ?
