292.3025 looks like it will be R2.923025 per share. So, on 1'000 shares, you'll get R292.30 total.

I think my anti capitalist friend sees no reason why a secondary market should exist.

Your friend has never bought something second-hand before? Or, how about a used car? Has he never bought a used car before?

If your friend has bought a used car before, he's "betting" that the car will still drive without major problems. The person who sold the car has decided that they don't love the car anymore like they used to, and so they want out. The buyer and seller both benefit from the transaction for different reasons. The manufacturer, however, doesn't benefit from the second hand sale.

There is a TOP40 index with 40 large cap companies, a midcap index with the next 60 biggest companies(called AltX I think), and a small cap index with the next 60 biggest companies. I want to find a place where I can look at those three indices and see which companies are listed on them. Hopefully ranked from smallest to biggest.

If you take a look at the ETFs that cover those parts of the market on the ETF issuer page, then you can usually click through to see the holdings of the ETF which will list all the companies in the ETF. Those companies are, thus, considered the large or mid cap companies on the exchange. If the ETF is market weighted, then you can assume that the percentage shown next to the holding is how big they are in the market.

What does this mean:
Quote
No dematerialisation or rematerialisation may take place between Friday, 18 September 2015 and Friday, 25 September 2015, both days inclusive.

I've seen it on a page declaring the LDT of an ETF.

Patrick, you can find an explanation of the LTS here: http://www.justonelap.com/webinarDetail.asp?intWebinarID=158

Fawkes, have you thought about Simon's Momentum Portfolio? I know Simon's all cash at the moment on the LTS, but at least there's buying happening in the MP: http://www.justonelap.com/webinarDetail.asp?intWebinarID=283

I like the results he's shown for the mid caps so far in the MP.

The NYSE has said they will suspend trading if the S&P500 dips 7%.

Didn't they learn from China? Suspending trade isn't going to stop the markets from going where they want to go, it's just going to delay it slightly.  ::)

You sure have a winner there Qess. That even beats STXIND over a long term. I haven't worked out how the higher TER will compare though. At a glance, it seems that the two will be the same but I'm sure Patrick will do the sums.

Thanks, Orca. I really hope it continues on like this, that's for sure. If Patrick does decide to do a few sums, I hope he will share the formula on how to work it out so that I can check out a few other ETFs as well :) I really want to get the biggest bang for my buck in this TFSA.

I'm new to investing, and the DBXWD is one of the ETFs that I've chosen for my TFSA. Granted, the TER of 0.684% isn't the lowest out there, but looking at their returns over the last 3-5 years also isn't anything to sneeze at.
