E-Cigarettes
« on: October 09, 2013, 06:44:44 pm »
Quote. "Ann McNeill, a professor of tobacco addiction at the Institute of Psychiatry at King's College London, said the findings should persuade health experts to embrace e-cigarettes as a useful weapon in the battle against smoking.

"Electronic cigarettes are the most exciting new development in tobacco control over the last few decades as we have witnessed a rapid uptake of these much less harmful products by smokers," she said in an emailed comment.

"The popularity of e-cigarettes suggests that we now have a product that can compete with cigarettes, thus heralding the first real possibility that cigarette smoking could be phased out."End quote.   :TU:

Been vaping e-cigarettes for 27 months now and am pleased to have found the above on Reuters.

I actually find no diffs with my monster Lavatube and Innokin. The taste is exactly the same as REAL cigs except that there are no carcinogens or stuff that can kill you.
E-cigs have become a hobby to me now to the extent that I do my own liquid mixing and build my own coils. Costs me R2 per day now compared to R65 pd.
Over the past few months I have seen an increase of e-cig users openly vaping in restaurants and in malls.
I feel great that I have succeeded to get 8 people to quit tobacco permanently.
I started here with nothing and still have most of it left.

Hi. Thanx for sharing this. Do you feel healthier now than you when you were smoking cigs? Also do you smoke the one with or without nicotine?

I'm still cutting over. A bit scared but I will be ok

Just had my 4 year anniversary of no cigarettes. I started on 18 mg juice at 50/50 PG/VG and menthol flavouring. I have since cut down to 8 mg 50/50 with no flavour and it works out very much cheaper as the flavour concentrates are expensive as is the nicotine.
Now I order a litre bottle already mixed to my specs and only use 4 ml per day. That costs me R400 and lasts for 8 months.

I've stopped for around 2.5 years now - had tried giving up countless times before. I was 20 - 30 a day, up to 100 or more when having a drinks - I did enjoy a party! I was the kind that started looking for exits when I went to a mall or any non smoking establishment. Tried a few things, nothing worked - but eventually gave up using Champix. Was at a bit of a party on Saturday, lot's of people smoking, no issues at all - and funnily enough doesn't even bug me.

Have actually now also given up drinking - tried it for a year, liked it, when back to drinking but had not changed my binge drinking ways, so just ditched it all together. Much fitter, happier and more "stable" - I think having less chemicals in the blood stream makes you a bit calmer!

I haven't got that constant cough and best of all. my sinus probs disappeared.  I only had about 10% airway in my nostrils due to severe sinus polyps for years. My doctor could not believe it as only surgery would have helped.

Well done Mr_Divi.  :TU: My few pleasures in life is to sit back at night and have a few beers or glasses of wine but I have always had strict discipline to never drink before 18.00 hrs.

Hi Orca

May I please know where you buy these one litre mixes from?

Just had my 4 year anniversary of no cigarettes. I started on 18 mg juice at 50/50 PG/VG and menthol flavouring. I have since cut down to 8 mg 50/50 with no flavour and it works out very much cheaper as the flavour concentrates are expensive as is the nicotine.

As I live in Europe, i get mine from http://www.cloudhousevapor.com/diy/base-liquid.html but not sure if they ship to SA. You can look at their shipping policy.

I would recommend you join www.ecigssa.co.za and post a thread there. There are many online sellers there and you will be surprised at how quick they are to reply and help with any questions you have.

Interesting to see how smokers have quit. In the late 1980's I stopped smoking for a year, but unfortunately went to an all afternoon lunch at a German restaurant and smoked cigars at the end of the meal, which started me smoking all over again. Then in 1990 when I completed my EDP at USB I resolved that that night at the passing out dinner I would give up smoking. At that stage I was smoking +/- 60 Texan plain a day, well it took me 2 days to give up - the withdrawal symptoms were horrendous, but the good side of it is I never touched another cigarette again. Also I can drink with smoker friends and am not irritated by the smell of their cigarettes, and many is the time that think of taking a drag but resist. Some of the most pleasant smells is that of a cigar or a pipe somehow the smell of these two are quite intoxicating
