Hi Guys and Girls

I am a complete newby in terms of trading but always been fascinated by it. Recently opened a share saver account at fnb but want to dabble a bit in the markets. Been playing on a demo account on the IG platform for a while too. (At least my shater are up R6k for the day ;-)

Anyway, any advice on what the best platform to use is. I dont quite trust the IG one (no specific reason though) and have an account at Easy equities too. I have enough spare cash that I can use to trade with and that I am comfortable in losing if need be, though hope that doesnt happen. :-O.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Welcome :)

I started off with Share Saver as well, but it is very limited and I wouldn't recommend it unless you agree with their investment philosophy - top 40 + midcap

Your choice between platforms (especially if you are just starting out) is more or less limited to EasyEquities and ABSA's ETF Only account...and they are very good platforms.

 * EasyEquites - very cheap, very easy to use, access to all shares, ETFs and ETNs on the JSE. Has baskets and bundles available for extra guidance. Also has value orders which makes it even easier to use.

 * ABSA ETF Only - also very cheap, more advanced features (stop loss, limit orders), access only to ETFs

Both support TFSA accounts. Of the two I favour ABSA but nothing stops you from using both which isn't a bad idea at all. You can do your serious investment portfolio on ABSA and speculate with shares on EE.
