Just listened to Patrick's interview on Just one lap
« on: July 15, 2019, 02:43:30 pm »
Hi
I am Tshepo, been investing in property and I see no returns. I am interested in ETFs and other niche investments. I intend to make sacrifices to achieve my goals...

Hi Tshepo:-

A couple of pointers - was investing in property one of your goals?. If not why did you invest in property and if you are out of property how long were you in property. Prior to going into property did you research whats happening in the property sphere.
Lastly its all very well to set goals, but the setting of goals have no relevance if you don't commit to dates, timelines, miles stone and measurable.
Before buying into the market do some serious reading and even if permissible talk to Simon or attend some of his workshops/showcases to broaden your knowledge.

Patrick the above article is old, but, more importantly it does not set out how a RSA resident can set up a broker account in say London, or New York. How about producing an article covering such options open to RSA citizens without them having to travel overseas to open the account as many want a physical discussion in their home country and they want a local address before they even consider opening a broker account - which may well require opening a banking account to fund the brokering account with steep charges at both entities

It's on my to-do list. The big stumbling block is the low cost offshore bank account. If anyone knows a good way to do that without spending a fortune?

Anyway, I think I've found a way around needing that though, so the blog post is due soon.
