http://www.moneyweb.co.za/moneyweb-investment-insights/are-these-shares-the-future-titans
That was posted by gcr I think.
Written on 7 Oct and today their acquisition SENS lifted the share by over 6%. Acquired a battery factory in Turkey for R2.2B. This will add capacity to their Rombat green stop/start plant in Rumania.
Surely a future Titan. All cars in the UK and US must use these batteries in 2 years time.
They have ®© on their sophisticated batteries. MB and BMW are on board already.
Now to wait. Bought at 2480.
-
Up another 7% today. Makes it 15% in two sessions. :TU:
-
Nice ... :TU:
-
MIX - keeping pace with Orca's MTA, up as we speak 14% since Monday and looks like it will still go higher today.
-
Up 16.6% since YESTERDAY and still climbing. Should have gone long with the SENS announcement. It was a no brainer.
-
Geez. This is the best day I have had in years.
-
With the above gains and MTA looks to beat CML over time, my move to Portugal seems nearer. Another 15% will put me at my target to start my move. :)
-
This should be to MTA's advantage as well?:
"New car registrations in the European Union rose 5.5% in September, data shows - @CNBCWorld"
-
Geez. This is the best day I have had in years.
Another good day.
-
What do you guys think of the new board appointments for Metair?
Also, are any of you guys buying right now?
-
They have managed to seal the deal and bought all outstanding shares. This acquisition is now costing R2.27B (or was it 2.7) and will surely hurt their results for next year but investors will see the future value and stick it out to reap the rewards later.
Coronation acquired 5.36% of Metair off market for Kagiso. They had to do it off market as there were not enough shares available at market. You can rest assured that Coronation as the best Fund Managers out will have made their sums with the due diligence before the acquisition.
This is a medium to long term winner. The only stock that I would buy and chuck in the bottom draw and not worry about it.
-
Just noticed a problem. She left a gap at 3580. MTA is not a trading stock as such but if traders are there, they might just force the price down to close this gap. ie, They go short (sell) until it reaches 3580 and then close their shorts (buy) and it goes back up again.
-
Following the Acquisition, Investec Asset Management now holds 6.8990% of the issued ordinary share
capital of the Company.
SENS made today.
-
Seems like all the big guns are buying up MTA. Here is another SENS made today.
NOTICE OF AN ACQUISITION OF A BENEFICIAL INTEREST IN METAIR INVESTMENTS LIMITED
In accordance with Section 122(3)(b) of the Companies Act, No 71 of 2008, as amended and paragraph
3.83(b) of the JSE Limited Listings Requirements, Metair shareholders are advised that the Company has
received notification that Coronation Asset Management (Pty) Ltd (?Coronation Asset Management?),
on behalf of its clients, has acquired a beneficial interest in securities (?the Acquisition?).
Following the Acquisition, Coronation Asset Management now holds 9.34% of the issued ordinary share
capital of the Company.
-
:wtf: Was it me or Coronation or perhaps Investec that caused this sudden surge? :LHST:
Reminds me about one guy on the other forum saying I was promoting CML to the extent that it rose from R12 to where it is now.
-
Do you think it will drop to a lower price than it is now before it climbs again?Or is it possible this is the last time we will see her at this price?
Im betting on the former for now.
-
Sold some CML shares so that I could add to MTA but it she just kept climbing. Stocks normally go up this time of the year so it might just be the last time we see this price.
Will do some tech analysis after close and see if I can predict something.

That was HDB's accusation some years ago. There is a word for that and I can't think of it now. Something like "hyping".
Now I must start "hyping" MTA up for my benefit.
Jokes aside. Been trying to buy her for my competition portfolio but she has made a "lampole" formation so I must wait for some other move. Just my luck and she will make another one.
-
Well, there she goes. The word I was accused of with CML was "Hyping". Well, I hyped CML up from 24 to 80. All by myself. :LHST:
Now I am hyping MTA up from 42 to 97 by year end. If not 109. :TU:
-
Lookie here how I hyped it up.
-
and here was the buy signal 8)
What charting software do you use Orca?
-
I bought some at the current high prices. But Im hoping to buy more on a dip instead of a peak.Only thing is who knows when it will dip again, and at what price.
-

What charting software do you use Orca?
Don't have charting software. Use Reuters and draw my own lines.
-
My charting software has indicated a Short on MTA @ 45.35. Target c42.50. OST however does not permit shorts on MTA. Damn.

Fundamentals will negate this short. After all, fundamentals override technicals. More so with non trading stocks as there are no traders to act on the chart technicals.

Public Investment Corporation, Investec and Coronation have made major acquisitions in Metair over the past few months. Now these 3 Co's are not to be scoffed at. After all, they are investing huge amounts of pension money into it.
Coronation bought millions of shares but could not do so on the market as there were not that many available. The price was negotiated and made off market.
This major purchase by a reputable Co that cannot after all these years put their name to shame. They must have done some homework to pick MTA. Coronation is after all the best Investment Co in SA and has been for many years. Perhaps not the best performing, but by the most Plexcrowns they achieve year after year.
-
Results out in 5 weeks. Expect around zero % profits due to costs of their Turkey acquisition and the 2 month strike. A trading statement should confirm this soon.
-
So in 5 weeks time MTA will be trading at a nice fat discount to it's SP?
Public Investment Corporation, Investec and Coronation have made major acquisitions in Metair long after MTA made this announcement in a SENS. They all understand why the HEPS will be very low as do most of the major investors.
The FY report ended end Dec before their R207B Turkish acquisition could add to profits.
So it might be priced in.
-
Hotstoxx chose MTA as Extremely Hot to Hot yesterday. :TU: Saw it myself on TV.
-
Unfortunately they have not made that video available online, searched high and low. Also,Metair went beyond R45 today :wall:.Wanted to buy more, but Ill wait till it comes under R45 if it does.
-
I've been expecting this for a long time. This is not purely an auto company and should not be seen as such. Even if we don't buy new cars, we will still need batteries and other spare parts to keep our old cars running not so?
Soon it will become compulsory in many countries to have their start/stop batteries fitted to all new cars for greener emissions.
Then their ultra reflective street lamps will slowly take off worldwide as they use lower wattage globes.
This can only be a future tytan stock for years to come especially once the loan has been paid off.
Watch this space.

Refinancing of Metair’s Bridge Loan Facilities
Metair Investments Limited
(Registration number 1948/031013/06)
(Incorporated in the Republic of South Africa)
Share Code: MTA ISIN: ZAE000090692
(“Metair”)
REFINANCING OF METAIR’S BRIDGE LOAN FACILITIES
On 12 August 2014, Metair, acting through its two wholly owned subsidiaries, Inalex Proprietary
Limited and Nikisize Proprietary Limited, entered into formal agreements for the refinancing of the
facilities extended by Absa Bank Limited (“Absa Bank”) for the acquisition of the Turkish battery
manufacturer, Mutlu Aku Ve Malzemeleri Sanayii Anonim Sirketi by way of the issue of preference
shares in an aggregate amount of ZAR 1.4 billion (“Refinancing”).
The preference shares carry a dividend rate of 69% of the South African prime rate, nominal annual
compounded monthly, and are redeemable over a period of 5 years commencing no earlier than 3
years and 1 month from the date of issue.
The Refinancing includes a revolving credit facility, which will be used for general corporate purposes.
The revolving credit facility has a tenor of 5 years and attracts interest at 2.05% over the ruling
Johannesburg Interbank Agreed Rate.
The Refinancing is subject to the fulfilment of conditions precedent customary for transactions of this
nature. These relate to formalities prescribed in the Companies Act, 71 of 2008, as amended ("Act")
regarding financial assistance and verification of each borrower and guarantors' incorporation and
authority under the Act and their respective Memorandums of Incorporation, save in respect of off-
shore subsidiaries where compliance with the relevant laws of each jurisdiction has been verified and
the necessary approvals have been obtained. These are expected to be fulfilled imminently.
Standard Bank Limited (“Standard Bank”) will subscribe for the entire preference shares issue and
Absa Bank, Investec Bank Limited, and Standard Bank have committed to the revolving credit facility.
Through the Refinancing, Metair achieved its objective of securing funding at very competitive rates
and a structure which will provide it with the necessary flexibility in pursuing future strategic
opportunities.

Metair is down around 10% since the latest results. You guys still holding?
-
She may only go lower if the markets do. No ways will I sell this one. Did you realize that it is only me and you here today? It is a public holiday there and they all drinking beer and braaing. National braai day.
-
Yup - I'm still holding as well. Not sure why the market has hammered them, as the results were acceptable. HEPS was down 16% but this is only as a result of them issueing shares to buy Mutlu Turkey - they issued 46.4 million shares. Also seems that best results are the 2nd half of the year. Also in December 2013 the PIC increased its holdings in MTA to 7.112%
Methinks that investors are a fickle bunch
Hey Orca how about an update in your settling process, everything going smoothly, no more fights over water??
-
There are no support lines for MTA other than the Fib and she is bouncing along it quite nicely. Up 2.1% today.
-
Rather belated turnaround but there goes my ten bagger. Great SENS out today. This must surely be the next CML.
-
Public Investment Corporation PIC purchased 13.3% of MTA's shares in issue. After PIC's blunder with ABI, they had to pick a winner to make up the loss.
By the way, PIC also bought 10.2% of CML shares recently. I think PIC is watching my portfolio. :LHST:
-
So i received the following Trading Update from Merchantec in relation to the Metair share price stating the it is "At Value"
What do you guys think?
-
This was my 10 bagger stock but seems that the investors are spooked by their Mutlu acquisition. Turkey is in political turmoil and surrounded by countries like Syria and Iraq where ISIS is wreaking havoc. Their Romanian Rombat acquisition is no better.
Apart from this, I cannot see the share price plummeting due to the Eskom saga. They also manufacture solar panels, UPS's, and the like.
-
Slowly reaping the rewards of holding on. Back in profit now since the trend change. The Bollinger Bands are narrowing so expect another sharp movement soon.
PIC and CML hold huge chunks of MTA stock so this is good for them too.
-
Not sure what to think of this one any more. The Russian ruble has halved in value against the dollar over 2 years and had to cut imports. This plus the fact that the past 2 winters were mild affected battery sales at Rombat and Mutlu.
I will hold on though.
-
People still holding on to this?Whats the current technical s and fundamentals looking like for this one?
-
The Turkey Lira has made an about turn for 2 months from it's decline and the outright win of the AK party making it a stable one party state had the Lira jump the highest since 2008.
This is great for Metair's Mutlu flagship and is already reflecting in it's share price.
The conflict in it's neighbor, Syria is now on the backbench.
-
MTA retracted due to the attempted assassination of the Turkish Prime Minister and the conflict with Russia.
Metair has acquired Dynamic UK for R31M. Dynamic is a battery reseller and distributor in England and parts of the EU.
Dynamic was supplied by a SA firm Altron that is listed on the JSE but will now be supplied by Metair's Turkey and Romanian factories. This will give her a stronger foothold in the EU for future expansion.
This is bad news for Altron as they had a R60M loss at last report and sold parts of Altech and has now lost Dynamic.
